Game Ready Environment for Mobile Platforms

Mobile Environment Creation – Workflow Breakdown

Tools Used: Blender · Substance Painter · Unreal Engine 5

I created a mobile-optimized 3D environment for this project using a streamlined workflow across Blender, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine.

-Modeling in Blender
I began by modeling modular and optimized assets suitable for a mobile environment, including:

A container

Wall sections

A pillar

A set of stairs

Each model was created with clean topology, consistent scale, and proper pivot placement for easy use in the engine. I also created a custom shape to be used as a baked texture base, which I later used in Substance Painter.

-Texturing in Substance Painter
All assets were UV unwrapped and exported into Substance Painter. I created custom texture maps using a combination of baked details and smart materials. This ensured a visually appealing yet performance-friendly result.

Key focus areas included:

Efficient UV layouts for minimal texture distortion

Mobile-optimized PBR materials

Exporting textures at optimized resolutions to ensure real-time performance

-Scene Assembly in Unreal Engine
The final models and textures were imported into Unreal Engine, where I assembled the environment. I placed and duplicated modular elements to build out a complete scene, maintaining visual consistency and style.

I focused on:

Performance optimization for mobile platforms

Modular layout for efficient world-building

Clean material setup using the exported PBR textures
